No problem....the workshop staff are taking their time to make sure everything is spot on for her steam test.

And good on them for doing so. Hopefully this will mean it can enter traffic and stay in traffic for a good length of time before needing any works attention. better for it to take a month or two longer now, than to keep coming back in during the years ahead.

Remember her certificate is ticking away!?? So the sooner she is in traffic the better? Actually I have to ask this how many actually work on the loco or have done so to return her to traffic?

Perhaps Tom 92240 you can enlighten us what the issues are that seem to be delaying
    34059?

34059 does seem to be a rather long overhaul?

So rather do a half arsed job so that she has to come into the works sooner and have a load of stays replaced, for example, just to get full potential out of a certificate...? :-k Either way, do it now, or do it later...

The quote on the Bluebell Yahoo says: The loco has not had its steam test yet so I think a date for return to service is still a little premature. I am not aware of any date at the moment other than it is hoped to enter service in the spring.

Middle_C, no I cannot enlighten you, as far as I am aware there are no issues other than the fact she isn't finished/ready for a steam test yet! She'll be ready when she's ready. I can only tell you about progress on 2526, considering thats my department. Sorry to be no help...

Thanks Tom92240 for the info! Just a shame Blackmore Vale hasn't survived to the end of her ticket.... Maybe they have got it right with 34059?

    Andy,

In part answer to your query 'Sir Archibald Sinclair' is to have its steam test on Tuesday. Assuming the test is successful it will enter the paint shop at HK towards the end of the week and the painting will take about two weeks. So entry into traffic third/fourth week of March all being well.

    Regards

Well if it had remained 'in traffic' any longer they would have needed to get a third set of nameplates made up...

I think you will find it would be a fourth set:

Blackmoor Vale, Blackmore Vale, O.V.S. Bulleid + your suggestion, although if it was in traffic the plates would be irrelevant.

Also the end of April, as long as everything goes well, for the return of 34059 is what is being aimed at.

Does anyone know if the Blackmoor Vale plates survived? It only held them for a short while as I recall.

I have heard that it was blowing off in the yard yesterday (Steam test I presume) and moving around SP today.

    Hi,
My sources at the Bluebell tell me 34059 moved around the yard under its own power this afternoon.
Like any Barry restoration there will be some de-bugging to do.
    Well done to all concerned.
I look forward to seeing it on some trains.
    'Cos I like 'em.

That is the first time a rebuilt BB Class locomotive has moved under its own power since 1967.

Nice to have some positive news about the Bluebell after the Diesel Passeneger train (And as a Bluebell member and although only 17 I agree with most people that the Bluebell should NOT have run this even if it is for the extention) and Loco Crisis. Lets hope SAS lasts longer than BV.

Im surprised you say most people were against it; do you mean on this forum, other forums, or members of the railway?
