You made me do a double-take there, until I realised that the dark lines just ahead of the rear bogie are shadows from the electrification mast.

Anyone know when Tornado runs south from Scotland to Carnforth? Ahead of Thursday's Jorvik Express. Or has this move happened already on the quiet.

Saw elsewhere it went back to Boness, instead of Joppa Sidings, and then onward via carstairs.

45690 heading north past Yorton station on a grey September afternoon. St Mary, Broughton church among the trees on the right.

Weather might be grim up north but 45690 was a bright spot to the day as it returned home to Lancashire !

Now that would have been quite a combo! 35018 + 31128 + 33029. Possibly due to BIL needing water and possibly more coal at York which would have delayed the onward departure?

My thought was more put the diesels on the front and she could go back in light steam.... reminds me of when Tyseley used to pilot 5043 back from Crewe rather than take her off. The fact that she took on coal rather dispelled the suggestion that the diesel was doing the work!

Agreed. Whatever the reason it gave me something good to see on a little morning stroll. 15 early through Cononley and will be well on the way back home by now.
