Thanks for the G r e e n Breva, I had scanned the old negatives of the colour film (remember that?) a couple of years ago and my digital correction skills are limited...But it is fantastic to see the L & B being steadily re-born and the changes that have happened.

I have scanned quite a few old negatives and slides for other people, and my scanner has the option of colour correction at the source. I remember how disappointed I was that only after a few years my pictures of a steam hauled Pullman on the dockside at Dieppe had turned red. Now I can reverse the process :)

I corrected your picture with Photoshop, which I find a bit more difficult than the correction at source. It means more manual interpretation - eg does it need more red, or less green? It worked quite well with your picture.

    Always happy to help.

Some very nice wordwork, better mortice & tenon joints than my efforts :)

Curious style of bell though with an off-set tapper. Any maker's marks/ID perhaps on the original parts ?

I would concur that during our visit attendance was exceptionally good, even for the first train. Lets keep the interest going, a few more shots from the trip. P1130233.JPG P1130237.JPG P1130240.JPG P1130242.JPG

Wonderful news about the August numbers, and good to know that Lyn is well on top of a full up 5-carriage load. So the railway is operating at near capacity now, which makes one wonder, how to manage demand between now and either the extension, or additional rolling stock, is available, neither of which will be next year?
... unless all the crowds are just after their collectors item "Lynton and Barnstable rly" tickets while they last;)

Good news, but it's possible due to extra holidaymakers/campers in Devon. Next year if overseas holidays are back visitor numbers might be down?.

Locomotive N0.762 'LYN' entered the engineering workshop withdrawn from service on 20th August. The failure was found to be a broken piston valve, requiring new piston rings. However following good engineering practice, repairs have been undertaken to the cylinders on both sides and are almost now completed.

The good news is that 'LYN' should hopefully be steam tested this week.

Don't say things like that or you'll jinx it. Also it was only the driver's side that had the issue.

Yes, I know that Thomas. I did detail the failure thus: "The failure was found to be a broken piston valve," thereby implying a single cause.

Are you saying that the piston rings were not, as a precaution also replaced in the other cylinder fireman's side?

Regarding the AGM and appointment of trustees, could anyone explain why:

    1. AGM the paperwork was signed off before the start of the countdown dates to the AGM
    2. AGM paperwork printed before the closing date for receipt of new trustee nominations
    3. AGM paperwork distributed before closing date for new trustee nominations
    4. Reprinted paperwork deficient
    a) CG Duffell’s name spelt incorrectly
    b) No indication of what CG Duffell is being elected to
    c) Candidate statements for retiring Trustees nominations enhanced over previous statements
    d) CG Duffell’s personal statement severely edited and changed reduce role experience and impact.
    6. Replacement paperwork to be returned to Tony Nicholson (specifically named) Definite conflict of interest as he is outstanding for re election
    7. No return envelope included with replacement documents.
    8. No indication that previously submitted votes using the original voting slips are invalid
    5. Replacement papers sent out late so that a significant majority did not arrive 14 clear days before the AGM thus invalidating the AGM vote
