By climbing the hill behind Gauxholme Viaduct @46233 used all of the available light to produce the excellent images above. On the other hand, I skulked in the approaching darkness on the platform end at Walsden (where it was much darker than it might appear on the video). DB crews, unlike their WCRC counterparts, appear to have the key to the magic cupboard where the chime whistle lives. DB crews get very few jobs in the north (and even fewer after the late cancellation of The Caledonian), if anyone knows the crew details it would be nice to give them a bit of public recognition by posting on this thread.

The video starts with a bunch of excited kids counting down and then plenty of chime whistles as "Tornado Flattens Walsden" - there's a headline for the local paper. [After the upset caused by Colin Crompton's nuclear bomb on Morecambe joke and fearful of being banned from Walsden I will take it no further.]

Tornado's "whispering exhaust" belies the fact that on the climb through Walsden she was producing around 975 edhp (this equates to an equivalent pull of 4.2 tons and an actual drawbar pull of around 3.3 tons). Given the right circumstances the "Big Green Pacific" can top 2500 edhp, when she hisses and snarls; Thursday was just a gentle workout.

Thanks for the clarification. My impression is that since the 2018 northern and Thameslink timetable issues, the T-12 planning horizons that this links to have been at best an aspiration and recovery has been blown off course by Covid and it’s impacts on the railway.

Timings suggest no stop at Leeds on the return.

1Z70 running on time/1 down. Just a "heads up" to anyone venturing out to see the train (fuel supply permitting). The weather here in North Yorkshire is "foul". Strong winds and heavy rain. Brightening up and looking slightly drier to the West but I would imagine anywhere up the S&C will be a bit challenging!

I suspect the diesel that pulls the ecs out of Hull to York will go on the front from York. No obvious water stop en route.

That makes sense, 26 minutes at York is time for the diesel to run round but not turn FS.
