LT buses at The Museum of British Transport.

Evening All,

If anyone is interested to have a look, I have just added some pictures of London Transport preserved buses during their spell at the erstwhile Museum of British Transport to my Fotopic site.

You are almost certain to be correct that this Bedford VAL was a 52 seater and not a 53. The photo shows I am sure a single seat on the near side just behind the door. With this being a 'B' reg the engine would be a Leyland 400 which protruded out of the floor to such an extent that there was not enough gangway if a double seat was fitted at the front.
All my early twin steer 6 leggers were Duple bodied, Leyland 400s and they too had 52 seats until the arrival of the 'useless' Bedford 466 when there was room for 53.

VF 6618 is a 1929 Chevrolet LQ which belonged to Charlie Banfield of Nunhead, Sth London.

Love the picture of the VAl.The livery is very reminiscent of the old Chiltern Queens livery. It got me thinking of my school bus days, I don't think CQ had a VAL but Smiths of Reading had two I recall and possibly Spiers of Henley had one...magnificent beasts.Thanks for the memory as they say
