    Hi Neil,

    A few comments - 31/75 D6778 Possibly Whitby?
    54 & 54/75 D6890 The train is milk tankers from West Wales to the London area judging by the 6A-- train number.
    55/75 D6893 Tondu

    A lovely selection of shots at the start of 1960's modernisation. It highlights where the the modernisation plan was flawed. New diesel loco hauling unfitted coal wagons.... which were steel bodied versions of a 50 year old design.

    And why the hydraulic fleet was deemed such a failure as they were built on the premise that all trains would be braked; they proved unsuitable for the unbraked trains - especially those in the Welsh Valleys hence the choice of the heavier Class 37s rather than Class 35 Hymeks.

    Embankment at the Lymington Jn end where it crosses the B3055 and in a cutting approaching Sway station.
    The gradient from Lymington Jn is about 1 in 100 towards Sway, but then roughly level through the cutting.
    Sway cutting is a traditional location for the railway flooding.

    Not my photo but this is taken at the start of the cutting looking towards Lymington Jn.
    Lymington Jn SB is the white spot above the loco cab.

    D6674 is at Bedlington South, not North Blyth.
    Edit: As @Fred Kerr has pointed out loco number cannot be D6674.
    It is probably Neil's typo for D6874.
