That would be swapping a 10 wheeled tank engine for an 8 wheel tender engine.....substitute 9351 perhaps?

My information came from Alan Blooms book 'Steam Engines at Bressingham' Essentially Alan disliked inside cylinder locomotives, and was rather dismissive of the Great Eastern loco's that He saw as a child. There was a group of enthusiasts, I'm not sure if they were Traction Engine or Model Engineers Who took Him to see 62613 but He could not be inspired. To think that Alan Bloom would need another group in order to raise money is almost laughable. I am certain that the East Anglian Traction Engine Club were not involved.

    What about a GW 28XX or 38XX for a Thompson O1.

Forget any anti Thompson bias these were reputedly excellent locos, well liked by their crews. I remember reading that when 38b/16d was taken over by the Midland region almost ex-works O1's were, much to the disgust of the locomen replaced by 8F's not always in the best of condition.

Given the source of your information, I stand corrected.

    GWR 28xx for a WD 2-8-0
    BR 2-6-4T for a Rhymmney A class
    Merchant Navy for a Claughton
    Black 5 for a Saint/Court or Grange
Any of the Panniers for a 1016 class Pannier

I would have swapped something for a Dean single but couldn't think of anything obvious to get rid of! i would swap all but one of the black fives for one if i could...

I've always prefered the pannier version myself, i always think that the short saddle tank ones look like an RSH Ugly, which isn't a complement!

Umpteen 'Networkers' for one LSWR H16 and don't care if that's outside the thread rules .... so there! :)

Why 'Or'? There are a fair few Networkers for the chop! ;)

Odd we've both gone for Urie designs. My usual interests revolve around far more impecunious lines than the LSW.

Very true! Never enough modern stuff to chop up!
I know, I am a dyed-in-the-wool Midland / Lanky man, but there's something about the massive appearance of the H15 that draws my attention... Plus that off-centre smokebox door!

As all GWR 4-6-0 locos look the same, I’d like to send all but one of them back to trade for lots of extinct LNER types.

Why does anyone want the LNER U1? The LMR crews at Lickey, when it was, unsuccessfully trialled there, hated it. It was supposed to be very difficult to drive, the massive steam pipes acted as a pressure reservoir, and several brake vans got whacked so hard that they were damaged. It was also very hard work to fire.

Don't think the Eastern men at Wath were keen on it either

I'd happily trade a couple of A4s for a New York Central Hudson ... but guess that's outside the rules :D
