Working up Freshfield on the 9am departure this morning. Fantastic smoke effects, the sun was a bit of a pain however!

The sun was a "pain"?! It makes this wonderful shot! Great work.

It certainly gives it the effect! In terms it being a pain, the sun was infront of us at every location we did, but for this shot it worked out.

This is certainly a shot to be proud of, not least the apparent effort being put in by '28 on only six coaches!

It is accelerating there from 10mph up to linespeed on a 1 in 75 gradient - not a huge job for a MN, but it's not as if it is bumbling along on the level either. Just a question of how long it takes before you get to 25mph!

The weather on Saturday in particular also leant itself to really good steam effects - cold and crisp, and very little wind.

Follwing '28's run on the Bluebell on the 13th does it return to base the next day?

No, it's at the Bluebell over the weekend as well.

Featuring my well loved photograph (of which I'm greatful for all the support its had) here's the video version, in the form of my compilation of the Giants of Steam Gala with Clan Line, filmed on the Saturday and Sunday of the event. A fantastic weekend had, and a credit to all involved:

Is that as a static exhibit or is it planned to work trains at the weekend? Nothing on the website when I looked.

Clan Line was rededicated at Sheffield Park today, 70 years after being named going by the Clan Line Twitter account.

That’s correct, it’s why it is fitted with the red original nameplates

I did think it was a nice touch to have the red backed nameplates fitted for the event, although I wasn't aware of the rededication, but looked to be a nice occasion today.

It occurred to me after the event that it there was sort of Longmoor theme to the gala with 35028 running, 21C123 on display in Platform 2 at Sheffield Park and 30064 could just be seen peeking out of the stock stored in Platform 1 at Horsted Keynes.

I’m sure it was a great occasion for those involved, unfortunately I couldn’t make it.
