As per the EMF fb page, 7812's boiler has passed its insurance hydraulic test. Work continues to ready it for its steam test.

I see that 34027/1501 are rostered for S1 tomorrow. Does the loco change happen after the first run round at Bridgnorth or the second one?

In the past it's been after the first, I believe, though the WTT/TN on SVRLive are silent on it.

Great pic. Where to start with a modern H&S assessment? :)

Is the date certain? The SVR Wiki says the the ex-Portskewett Shed seen above was erected in 1976/7 and, quoting SVR News 49, says the ex-Heaton Mersey shed was added in 1978 to the rear of the ex-Portskewett shed, adjacent to the Goods Shed. That would date this to 1977/8?

Post it again, rendered in sepia tones and don't mention the date. Sorted! ;)

The SMF newsletter dated March 1979 states: "During the last 12 months progress on 2968 has been hampered by a number of reasons:
    (1) Due to construction of the SVR engine shed extension 2968 had to be moved to the Bridgnorth Up Head Shunt. This location being situated next to the main running lines to and from Bewdley severely restricts working parties."

So I think the date is in the right area, but the photo was taken earlier than August 1979.

Incidentally, it would be almost another twelve years before 2968 returned to service after this restoration!

Is that a spare inner firebox for a WD 2-10-0 I see before me? What happened to that, transplanted into WD600?

It came as a spare, and last time I saw it is still there as a spare

    Funnily, I clocked that too!

I'm glad I posted as dating some of my photos has not always proven straightforward - I know I was at Bridgenorth on 21st May 1978 so this image may have been taken a year earlier than I had thought.
I think on reflection, this one of 42968 is more likely accurate for August 1979

The photo was almost certainly taken around mid-1978. 70000 Britannia is not in evidence on the 'back road' so I think this must be after early May 1978. The foliage on the trees would suggest that it is prior to October. I think that is Hagley Hall's boiler and cab on the left of the photo.

The 21st May 1978 was the day after Britannia's naming ceremony, so would certainly fit with everything shown in the original photo. Lovely to see, as it brings back many happy memories.

I make no comment on this image in terms of H&S attire etc, other than I'm unsure when it was taken?? Help is always very much appreciated on such matters.

Nice Sheffield Reg Austin in the first pic of 2968 - Or is it a Triumph Super 7 like the Dinky model? Lovely either way!

The Fund's previous Engineering Manager, although the Treasurer at that time, owned one, although not now. I've e-mailed to ask if it was his.

    Edit: Yes, it was!

I wouldn't know the make of that car, but it is the most striking thing in the picture, not least because it would have been already a great age then.
