What load would you suggest over Shap assuming no diesel?

I can see Tangmere contributing to the GB XIV in place of Princess Elizabeth.

Oh no not this old chestnut being trotted out again, what if it is, does it affect you, are you likely to be a passenger?

Eleven would be a safe bet. The first WCME was always a highlight of the calendar year and one we'd all look forward to.

What's going on there? The signal from the S&C is off, implying a train coming that way, but Tangmere seems to be past its own signal.

Load to 13/14 if you need to - just add BIL to ensure that the diesel stays at Carnforth...

Have Tangmere and BIL operated in tandem before?

Yes I'm into WIBN territory - but would make it a mouthwatering prospect...

The last time Tangmere ran on a CME unassisted over Shap was in 2012 with load 12 but it did struggle.

Well worth reading the thread for the CME 12/4/12 where it is suggested that was the first time for an unrebuilt WC/BB over Shap since 34004 en route to Scotland for the locomotive trials in 1948. On a previous occasion 34067 had reached Oxenholme but was failed there. I don't think the WCML was open to steam when 34092 was on the main line.

So that excellent video, and the other videos on that day are of historical interest.

That's got to be the combo most lovers of Southern steam are wishing to see,, two bulleids, one as built, one rebuilt in tandem working the same train, be a good way of running her in also, as double heading, would mean she could be worked easier than otherwise,

With all the talk about Engine only moves and diesel bankers I thought I would share this video from 1987. I would like to know if there are any other videos of the same train
