Under a moody sky, 60103 Flying Scotsman heads past Snapehall this morning. 15 minutes later on the drive home, blue skies...... ho hum.......

Here's my footage of Flying Scotsman yesterday on the Stratford Flyer. I filmed her at Wilmcote on the approach to Stratford and Lapworth on her ECS run to Dorridge. I also filmed the Duchess on the Midland Bristolian which is also in the video. I hope you enjoy it.

I've watched a number of clips of Scotsman's latest tour (one of horrific tresspass) but what does seem to be more evident is that she does not sound to be in the best of health with regards to valve timing.
Certainly looks like she was being nursed on the return with the diesel far more actively assisting.

Yes, everything was horrendous about that video, more concerning was the sound of the loco as can be heard in the video. There is a public crossing at the location in the video but as you can see, onlookers are way off it. Thankfully my local line is very quiet on a Sunday.

Great that the train completed its trip but why was FS allowed out in that mechanical state?

Because those actually involved in her maintenance correctly concluded that she was in condition that would allow her to complete the rostered turn?

She does seem to be incredibly busy at the moment which may leave little window for much beyond routine maintenance?

Next run is at the end of the month with only 3 more this year all spaced out so hopefully it will be better over the Christmas period.

Unbelievable. The great British Public displaying the "common sense" that Boris was expecting them to use with the pandemic

Scotsman sounding a bit sick there. Hopefully it is nothing too serious.

But it's not at all unbelievable. The "great British Public" carry out their personal risk assessment and come to the conclusion that standing at the side of a railway track is as safe as standing at the side of a fast main road. The answer is calm education about contemporary H&S rules.

There is of course validity in that point. For example if you walk one of the suggested routes from Harmans Cross to Corfe Castle most is on a footpath through fields or a pavement, but about 3/4 mile is on a road with no verge to speak of, a blind bend and what it is a basically disregarded 50MPH limit. Walked by many and arguably far more dangerous than standing beside the track where they were.
I am of course just as guilty in walking part of it reguarly (about 200 yards) to take photographs through a gap in the hedge of trains crossing Corfe Common.
No I would not have stood where those people did, but am I any less stupid? Last year I even did it in the dark to photgraph the lights trains, although I did stick a high viz on so headlights picked up the reflective stips.

Matt's video sounds a lot better than the Sutton park one although close in there is a more discernable three beats than the two earlier on so not sure if it is acoustics or otherwise .

Not my video , but again engine sound ok

Yes, beat is much better. The cut off setting can make a difference, I think, so as has been said, those who know the loco will know best, I am sure.
