I note from a post on FB yesterday evening that the first part of unit 006 has left the island and is on its way to Llanelli.

Reading on Facebook , one of the whistles off 006 disappeared whilst it was at Sandown, and apparently, there are no spares, Who ever took it, damaged the mounting bolts sheering two of them ,

Both vehicles have now been safely delivered to the L&MMR and work on them will start tomorrow morning, all being well.

Regarding the whistle, if we were to replace it then we would have to either purchase one from the owners of 483004 (That's if they were even happy to sell us one) or seek an inauthentic alternative. We have, for example, been offered a whistle from a BR Class 08 if we cannot find anything more suitable. The police have been informed of the theft.

The red is actually red primer - A temporary coat going over the top of sanded-down graffiti just to make the unit look presentable. It's actually much more effective than we imagined it would be so we might get some topcoat on there in time for the railway's Christmas event. It was certainly much quicker than attempting to remove the graffiti, which covered the whole of that side of the vehicle, and we want all trace of it invisible as soon as possible.

we can but hope those who did the graffiti, do get found, and punished, but i dare say they will be the livery designers of the future
