Clan Line in 2021

I think they were barred on that line

 

I have been up the Portsmouth direct at least twice behind Clan Line, but only down it behind 70013.

 

No trouble on any of the climbs. Well are are talking Wayne Thompson here

 

On Saturdays 17th & 24th September 1994 Clan Line worked Victoria-Portsmouth & Southsea and return . The first was with the raspberry ripple FOs, the second with the VSOE. They have also worked over the Portsmouth Direct before 1967.

Thanks I didn't know that. I can't recall any pre 67, I thought they were overweight for some of the bridges

Sounds like it was a wonderfully-managed trip - great timekeeping in what may have been challenging conditons and a late re-routeing seemingly working well. A screenshot from Weybridge, with more stills and video to come. Seeing the train on the fast in both directions was somewhat reminiscent of the 'Belle' (headcodes aside!).

 

I videoed the train in the fading light at Fleet. Not ideal conditions, but a record of the occasion:
