Sounds valid to me. On the Bure Valley (at least), the semi-Porta ZB rebuilds include a cab notice to drivers reminding them of the different driving technique required. The url below includes a link to a download detailing this fascinating project:

From memory, the NCB fitted about fifty locos with the Giesl ejector. Not all of these were Austerities, though. They were mainly operated in the North West but not exclusively.
Does anyone have a full list?

I think there may have been a total of 43 NCB tanks fitted with the Giesl Ejector.
The first one was fitted to an Austerity tank in 1959, and the last was a Barclay 0-6-0 in 1967
About half were fitted to Austerities, the rest were a mixture of Barclay, Bagnall, Peckett and possibly a Manning Wardle tank, mainly 0-6-0s but a few 0-4-0s.
Two of the Ejectors were supplied direct to Barclays for fitting to NCB locos in 1964, presumably to be fitted during repairs at Kilmarnock.

Don't forget the Kerr Stuart Victory loco, as well. https://www.minervamodelrailways.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/FRANCES-with-Giesl.jpg
A lovely looking loco before it had the ejector fitted and still quite smart, with it.

There was a pretty comprehensive list over on RMWeb https://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/111087-a-giesl-ncb-austerity-solved/
However, in addition to the Austerities listed in that thread there was the Victory class 0-6-0T Francis (KS3068/17) based on the NCB Walkden system (Giesl fitted c.1964) as mentioned above. 0-4-0ST King (AB1448/19) based at Walkden and later Whitehaven had a full size Giesl fitted at an unknown date. Also Giesl fitted was W6 class 0-4-0ST Collins Green (P1762/28). As the photo below shows it was later abandoned in its shed at NCB Ravenhead which by 1973 had collapsed on to its occupant.
I can recommend the book 'Locomotives of the Lancashire Central Coalfield' as it lists all the conversions (smoke suppression/mech.stokers etc.) with dates.
