I recall Britannia, running as 70048 'Territorial Army, double heading with 48151 which was standing in for Scots Guardsman which could not be readied in time after problems earlier. It was Lancaster to York and return with all proceeds going to the Help for Heroes charity. 27th March 2010.

Crikey Don, I didn't realise your allegiance had changed and Clan Line had been down graded to a lower level?

This combination kinda worked as it featured two locomotives regularly seen in the West Country, although obviously not on the same routes!

The Atlantic Coast Express, 34046 Braunton + 5029 Nunney Castle, 5th September 2014.

Those 2 have worked together a number of times, including at least one "Great Britain"
I think the discussion of (in)appropriate double headers should have its own thread, perhaps in the Steam Traction section?

A train has appeared on Railway Herald's tours page for Sunday 21 November called 'Rail Aid Pullman', operated by Belmond, from London Victoria to TBA and back, using 35018 and 60163. I am wondering if anyone has any further information, such as; is it double-headed? Nothing has appeared on their web site. Many thanks.

There’s been discussion about little else for the last three pages of this very thread!

Yes the A1 is at a lower level but Clan Line will be needed to pull it up the hills. Just look at what it did on Saturday with 530 tons

Nice to see MNLPS allowing their loco to be used as ballast to increase the weight of the train and thereby giving the A1 a proper work out.

Mayflower and British India Line over the S&C a couple of years ago has got to be up there with most unusual double header.

I started a new thread because the RH info. says it is 35018, not '28. My thread seems to have been put here despite 'Clan Line' not being involved. Or is the RH info. a typo?

Ah, I hadn't spotted 35018 in your post and didn't realise it had been moved. I'd suggest a typo in the Railway Herald article, given how many other confirmations there are of a 35028 / 60163 RailAid double header on the same date. Not the least being Railaid's own website, heavily branded with 35028 ... https://railaid.co.uk/pullman/

It's the RH. You've just answered your own question! And by the way, BIL can't work the Pullmans. It's only fitted with 1950s braking technology.

This is what RH is showing. As 'Clan Line' wasn't mentioned I didn't check this thread and now find that it's been here all along! As it was listed as a Belmond working I looked at their site where I could find nothing. I now see that 'RailAid' has its own web site.

Indeed - I can only recall this one, from Christmas 2010: Victoria to Dover with 45231.

It was 44932 not 45231, admittedly all these midland locos look the same ;)
