The length of water stops may be determined by other factors as well as water pressure, time allocated by NR dictated by other traffic for example.

Whatever happened to blues n twos?

Back in 2010 timed Tornado from York to Kings Cross. The single water stop in High Dyke Loop (between Grantham and Stoke Tunnel) lasted 6 minutes...

There was a post in another thread in the last month with a tweet where Blues and Two's had been stopped by the Police, due to a number of issues with their vehicle. See https://twitter.com/MPSRTPC/status/1434087735942422528

Note it says EX fire appliance, so nothing to do with the fire service just someone playing. There used to be a guy near here who bought a surplus fire engine and used it as a 'different' taxi for taking hen parties around, he got nicked for using blues and twos to get through traffic.

Blues and twos are a private fire service. If you read what the police said, the problem is that their operators licence is restricted to providing water for emergency use and supplying steam locomotives is not an emergency. I assume as an emergency vehicle it would be MOT exempt.
It’s an important issue that needs to be sorted as the alternatives present other problems

Yes I read and understood it perfectly. It was Ralph’s comment I couldn’t understand.

They have more than one tanker, they also do film and TV work.

I understood that who ever bought Blues & Two's a few years back purchased it for the film work. The steam loco work I believe was an add on. I hope they decide it is still worth doing if they get the road issues resolved.

Having not heard of them as a company I was unaware that it was actually a business and not just a private owner.

I know for a fact that nhs ambulances are not mot exempt so would assume fire engines are the same.
