    Agreed, they've got to get it back on the main line. Fine station by the way, pity half of it is now a car park.

    The nearest station on the Pre-Grouping Atlas was Speeton (closed in 1970).
    The nearest station now would be Hunmanby.

    An engineering update email for the A1SLT this morning reports that a number of 'flats' have been found on the loco's tender, which if corrected on a wheel lathe, would turn them down to scrapping size for use on the mainline.

    'We are extremely disappointed that this incident requires us to remove the locomotive from the main line. Tornado will shortly move to the Great Central Railway. This is in connection with activities associated with the ETCS fitment project. We are also working with the GCR to identify a number of operating days and will update you on these in due course.

    Whilst it is disappointing to see this year’s mainline season end early, our focus is on completing the overhaul next year and seeing a return to main line operations. The team continue to finalise the plans for this work which will commence in the New Year as previously announced.'

    Apart from the disruption caused to the several trips Tornado was due to haul before Christmas, this must be a big blow to A1SLT's income stream. This Autumn seems to have been a very unhappy time for steam trips. Let's hope the Lickey trips can buck the trend.

    Perhaps compensated for by the unplanned Northern Belle work?

    Me too, I’ve lost count of the number of ‘clubs’ I’ve been invited to join. Fair play to them though, it’s been a successful way of attracting funds

    [pedantmode=ON] McVitie's? I thought they were Jacob's. Mind you, it's a long time ago...[pedantmode=OFF]

    They were but rebranded by United Biscuits to McVities in 2013, with the Jacobs brand used for savoury products such as crackers, except in Ireland where that part of Jacobs was sold off separately and I believe to this day are still sold under Jacobs branding. I suppose it’s like the Smiths crisp products now sold under the Walkers name.
