It may not be but, with boiler overhaul expertise in relatively short supply, it might be a reasonable figure to start with if you're working towards the earliest possible slot in your chosen boilersmith's queue.

I am afraid that whilst under the custodianship of Clive and his wife, the loco will never go any further?, the society had a wonderfully experienced and dedicated engineering group lead by Roy Kerry who were 'sacked' by Clive to ensure that he had ultimate dictatorship of the loco, which he lost when WCR took it over...a sad end to a great loco

Do you mean the wonderfully experienced engineering team that spent vast sums of money with a well known steam locomotive engineering company undertaking basic maintenance that they should have been capable of doing theirselves??

Yes, a great loco with an important name. This is one loco that must not be allowed to fall by the wayside.

That surely depends on the contract between the Society and WCRC - and what the Society is prepared to do (surrender ?) in order to maintain / secure the long-term future of the locomotive.

Still stored awaiting overhaul. I’ve not heard of any firm plans for a start date, I believe funding is the issue, especially with the Duchess to run.

Funding and I presume support crew given that the Trust have at times struggled to provide 6233 even when it has theoretically been available? Much as I'd love to see 46203 run again if its a choice between this and 46233 I'd choose the latter everytime.

This thread is of course about 46201 and its a shame that the owners dont make it easier for us to get behind her by which I mean give a convincing plan for its full and proper (fully funded) overhaul and give us an incentive (like some different liveries over the course of the next 'ticket' if it gets one).

Surely if you were doing a publicity shoot to promote your loco you’d at least polish the rods up and make her look semi-smart? Just me?

We are unlikely to learn the details of arrangements between the Society and Carnforth, but we might expect Carnforth to bear some of the cost in exchange for having the use of the loco.

Indeed, it may be the light but it also looks like the cab roof ventilator is open, generally sad that she is being stored outside (if she is of course, I note the road in the shed in font of her is clear so she may just have been dragged out for the photo shoot?).

Not sure what the photographs are promoting, all a little strange.

Still only got 178 members, you been black balled already?

Looking on the website they have not yet raised even 1% of what they need for the overhaul sadly.

Nah...I've offered to help out in a volunteer capacity, so instead of finding things to be critical of, I'm trying to make a positive contribution.
