Quick, paint it green again so you can put the yellow stripe back on!!!

I wonder if it was actually that obvious for the crew in the cab? Yes there was a bang but a footplate isn’t exactly a quiet environment.

That has happened before with 6233, once in Carlisle as she reversed into the station under the road bridge where the wires would be lower than normal, the flashover being through the steam from the safety valves. This was also under a bridge so similar circumstances? I hope it's not being implied that the crew would have allowed anything in the tender high enough to cause a flashover? Coal from the tender ir a lump of masonry from the bridge?

That's a cracking shot from the viewing gallery at The Hive. Last time I tried to go up there for a steam special it was locked and the staff wouldn't unlock it for me.

Coal can fall off a tender purely due to movement ! Screenshot 2021-11-21 at 09.32.46.png

What an awesome performance from both clun castle and the duchess of Sutherland attacking the lickey incline. Best I’ve heard for a while. The short trips were justified. And thankfully the weather turned out good. love watching all the videos. Mines up later after editing.

On the Birmingham new street incident, why did the locomotive not stop when the flash of fire happened?? Did it not take out the power on the overheads??? Looked quite serious on the footage I’ve seen. Anyone clarify??

Thank you. I went the day before to check out the access situation. The team leader on that day said it be fine as they get loads of photographers coming up when something goes through Railtour wise. They were fine again yesterday and me and a friend were the only ones up there. Just missing the sun

Absolutely brilliant day out on the 2 Lickey Incliners. Vintage Trains put on a great show for everyone onboard and along the route. Many smiling passengers, stewards, & crew left their train at the end of the day. No grumbles heard all day. Great planning that worked well.
Well done and many thanks!.........when can we do it all again ? I can't wait !

Did you watch the video I linked to of the Duchess entering New St? There was a continuous arc above the tender before the 'bang', so considering other shots showing how high the coal was in the tender it seems clear what the issue was.

I would agree that something rare enough does seem to have sold well on what must really only appeal to enthusiasts. Not sure I ever knew what the fare was, but of course it was only 68 miles of steam and the whole trip and depending on which one you did lasted between 4.5 to 5.5 hours so always going to be about the train rather than "the tour".
I guess economically a different time of year with at least one more coach helps, but even then the diesel would probably be needed for insurance as yesterday, unless a suitable steam banker is available.
I wonder what folks would have preferred, a run at the bank like yesterday or a standing start with a banker.
On a seperate note is Bromsgrove a manned or gated station?, as down south I could imagine a large number of stations where the staff would have been going bersek about the number of non travellers for the Duchess run.

Why don’t you understand this? We don’t like having hope instilled in us that we will like videos.

I hope you understand this soon.

Not without getting the power turned off, that's for sure.
