She doesn't have her original tender and didn't carry her original out of Barry. This one has been built from scratch and a long time before SAS has been finished or even started.... But this was because of problems found with her boiler.

Thanks 34007 (Andy) one more question has she got diesel loco wheels under the tender like 35006 (P&O Line) has which are class 40. Or are they proper Bulleid wheels. I remember some time ago big Mike Felt was making tender wheels for Bulleid tenders.

That I can't tell you Lee! I know 35006 - P&O does - But maybe someone who has worked on 34059 - albeit part-time as it is stated on the website can tell you more... I'm only going on know-how from what I have asked froma friend of mine who has done some work on her in the past! I so wish we could start working on 34016 and 35005!!!..............

The tender from 34059 was sent to Briton Ferry steelworks by Woodhams to act as an
ingot carrier, several other tenders from the yard went that way, when Briton Ferry
works closed they were all cut up.
The wheels beneath 34059 are Bulleid wheelsets that were saved from Briton Ferry just
    before the cutting started.

Latest news posted on the Bluebell website to-day:-

We can report that 34059 "Sir Archibald Sinclair" successfully passed its insurance boiler steam test and initial static steam test on 3 March. The following day 34059 moved in steam for the first time in preservation, movements being made within the yard at Sheffield Park. The locomotive has now returned to the workshop for attention to some minor issues which were revealed during the test. On completion of these further testing and running in will be undertaken, along with completion of the painting. The Bluebell is now the proud owner of the first rebuilt Battle of Britain to steam in preservation, the first Bulleid pacific to carry a 5250 gallon tender and the first Bulleid to carry a newly constructed tender (frames as well as body).

Fantastic! Another ex-Barry locomotive back from the dead. Well done to all concerned and very nice to see a rebuilt BofB Class restored too.

Absolutely not, I don't think Bluebell have any plans whatsoever in the short to medium term to run their own engines on the main line

While 34059 is unlikely to go mainline, is she really a Bluebell engine? Surely she is a Bulleid Society loco that is only based on the line? Just like Stowe, 1638,1618, 541 & 847 are owned by the Maunsell Society?
