Blunt doesn't work if the individual is autistic, for example. If you wouldn't talk to someone like that in person, particularly if they're a visitor to your railway, don't online - it's meanspirited, unpleasant and a poor reflection on you, not them

It would be worth trying to get National Museums Liverpool to apply for a HLF grant to restore 'Cecil Raikes' to working order.
The cost of a cosmetic restoration would be pretty high anyway. The loco is in fairly decent condition (for an ex- NCB loco)
Obviously a boiler overhaul, no superheaters involved, new driving wheel tyres and steelwork replacement. Virtually all parts are present, so no manufacturing required.
I did note that one the stolen nameplates was sold for £4k a couple of weeks ago. Not sure how legal that was.

My grandfather worked with that engine at Shipley Colliery in Derbyshire. He used to eulogise to me as a kid over its titanic pulling power and overall performance. Finest loco he had ever come across, he used to say.

This would be a grate engine to get going again as it looks old and would be good on wagon rides on a siding. Engines like it will make railways more interest ing again as a lot of the engines nowadays are all the same like standard tanks etc not like when they used to have sterling big wheeler etc. Or the queen great western engine or calidonion big wheel engine etc
