Just been told that services start at 10am from Ropley with non-stop services to Alresford on the hour and (steam?) shuttles to Ropley at xx.17 mins past the hours. There's also a dmu shuttle between Ropley and Alresford.

The mainline services from London arrive Alton at xx.10 mins past the hour - which just misses the non-stop and is pretty tight for the shuttle if you've got to buy a ticket! Do they actually look at the mainline timetable when they come up with these timings? #-o

does anyone have any idea what time the engines arrive L/E at Alresford? It s always nice to arrive then.

    Hopefully 850 and 34007 may double-head, as well as maybe 41312 and 30585 or 73096 and 41312.

will the waggons also be out?

The wagons will be out but with a difference.

PMV,s and CCT,s are to be attached to service trains just like the old days and smaller vans will be attached to the shuttles, a mixed train if you like.

This has not been tried for some years as the goods had got into a sorry state, a different story now though.

    Regards
    Chris

    wAGGONS SOUNDS GREAT!!!!!!!!! \:D/

Excellent idea about the waggons, and a congratulations to Chris for his astonishing work on the waggons, they always now look great. Having read my recent Mid-Hanst news copy I found out just how small restoration teams really are, its a really amazing job.

Now all we need is the timetable. I can't wait for the gala, I won't be able to concentrate on school all week, even if I am supposed to be revising for my GCSEs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't see the point of having a cross-platform connection with SWT if they're have a timetable which brasses off the visitors who use it! Is there anywhere you can get a decent bacon buttie at Alton while you wait 50 minutes for the next train?

And while I'm thinking of food, any other recommended eating/drinking places near the other stations?

Hi everyone I was at the MHR today working line side at Rookwood lane. We are finding a lot of litter left in side the fence. If you are coming to the gala this coming weekend to photograph or ride be hind locos. Please can you all make sure you take your rubbish home and NOT drop your rubbish on the line side banks or THROW rubbish out of the windows of moving trains? There are a few of us that are trying to make the view out of the window more appealing to everyone. I’m not signaling any group out but I’m getting very annoyed finding litter on the banks.

    Thanks

You have a valid point there! And I don't envy you having to clear up lineside after everyone! So please all take note of what 73129 has said!

    Thanks.

Just debating this one, how different is the service likely to be from the Fri to the weekend days?
    Thanks in advance

    Will it work though?

And will there be some recovery time in the timetable to make up time if things go pear shaped?
There is nowt worse than a late running gala and nothing is done to get it back ontime
