Just been informed that 45407 is coming down to Toton from ELR tender first with support coach in tow, apparently it needs to be this way if going on the wheel lathe.
Can anyone out there put any light on this story.
I was going to Chesterfield to phot it but if it is tender first will have to look for a side shot somewhere.
    Many thanks, Wardy

Surely unlikely to go all the way tender first, there must be somewhere in the area to turn. :-k

A path from Castleton - Toton at 45MPH ?, very unlikely!.

There's a triangle near Long Eaton (Trent Junction?), one at Lenton Jct in Nottingham and there's a sort of triangular junction just south of Toton yard itself.

Thanks, I guessed there must have been somewhere to turn near Toton.

Looking at the times of the L E movements on UK steam info it dosn't appear to be turning anywhere, just going into Toton.

Why is the engine having it tyres turned at toton? i thought Ian had a lathe capable of doing it?

is it merely for convinience i.e. not lifting the engine off its wheels? using a ground lathe instead

    James,

Admin has asked you not to post links without a link back.

I have spoke to Glyn and insisted that your new post in Gen chat is left.

However, for this post - I feel a warning is in order.

That is not to say that we will not endorse a link in the future, but that as it stands this is spam.

The main reason for this action is your post has been reported by nearly a dozen member.

    Alan.

Does this mean that we're not allowed to post links to heritage railways' websites or websites of tour organisers if they don't have a link back to NatPres ... or does it only apply to links to "rival" forums?

No need for anyone to go off the boil is there!! Does the Nat Pres Messenger service no longer work as I think it may help to air peoples views on some subjects?

I think it got pulled due to lack of use after the initial novelty had worn off, people use MSN instead.

Oppss - Seems I have dropped a clanger here.

This should have been a PM.

I offer my unreserved apologies to James.

I also my thanks to ryan66 for pointing out that this was out of order as a posting, and that I should be given a warning for it. I tend to agree, and will thus accept a warning for this.

    Alan.
