It should do four but considering how old it is and power classification [2F], I wouldn't be too sure.

Then again, it must just suprise you.
We'll have to wait and see.
I will be attending though, need something to pick me up after the rough year I've had.

 

I can think of similarly sized and aged locos taking those loads up steeper gradients, but whatever.

It seems my pointless worrying was for nothing.

 

Just updated the website to reflect the visit of 51456 (752), this is the second L&Y engine to visit the Spa Valley after Andy Booth's A Class No. 52322 paid us a visit in 2018. You can book tickets online now, the event that 51456 features at will also see 'Douglas', 'Sir Keith Park' and 31430 in operation.

This is a very broad minded lineup.... you've got asaddletank that was built as a tender engine, a tender engine that was built as a saddletank and a rebuilt Bulleid pacific.....

 

I can see a theme there. Maybe they also need a new-build to complete the set?

 

‘Douglas’ has been out and about on Polar Express duties. A magnetic number and logo have been popped on for the event.

Visiting engines are getting much more interesting. I would like to see an s160 go there or an old engine like rocket or number20

 

Was thinking about this, wasn't Number 20 rebuilt from a tank engine?

 

It's an interesting point - I believe it was built as a tender engine, rebuilt as a tank loco and now a tender engine again - so is it rebuilt or as built?

 

I think 'Douglas' was built as a Hunslet Austerity Saddle Tank, but was rebuilt as a tender locomotive at the MHR and has remained so since. The Thomas on the MHR is also a rebuilt Austerity.
