In full dull and drizzly conditions 44871 races passed the loops to the west of Cosford station on the final leg to Shrewsbury. IMG_1453aa.jpg

Went to Doncaster today to see 44871 with Railway Touring Company Christmas White Rose.
After running late for most of the journey arrived at Doncaster 5 minutes early, 57316 tucked in behind the loco rather than on the rear

The tour is pathed at 60 mph (I assume 44871 viz 6233) - pathing a 60 mph train on the long double track section from Stoke to Doncaster must be difficult and involve a lot of trips into the various loops so going via GN/GE may be a better option???

It has been since the swap from Tornado to Duchess. Running early at Welwyn meant I could get ahead to Stevenage, nice departure with the diesel just ticking over on the back. Video to follow this afternoon.

The June/July Edinburgh Flyer did exactly the same, we overstayed our water stop at Heaton, by quite a period.
The plus was a straight run through to Berwick for another splash and dash.

The daylight shot from "Donny" certainly brought back some memories.
Standing on the platform or the road bridge waiting for "The Elizabethan", always a "streak" and the chime all the way through...magic!
