Saw a similar report elsewhere. Proof, if proof were needed, that some people just down know when to keep their gobs shut.

The chief engineer has left as well, so it'll be interesting to see if the loco does any more mainline running in the near future. A lot of the anger seems to be from the Plymouth trip with D345 and D213, people were upset the membership weren't given priority booking to travel behind their loco and missed out on tickets when it sold out within hours.

 

Oh bloody hell so where does this 335 then? I’ve always thought the CFPS were one of the more professional loco owning groups around, shame this has happened.

 

Have heard suggestions that "armchair warriors" who contribute little have gone to war and gained a pyrrhic victory. Sadly it seems some do not appreciate that words said in anger are soon forgotten but words on social media live forever; use social media at your peril but that lesson does not appear to have been learned in this case.

 

I’m wondering if Jeremy’s little jaunt around the UK last year (that used 345) then lack of priority booking on the tour down with 213 may have something to do with this?

 

I suspect the issue's more parochial than that.

Very much so from the second hand chatter I've seen. Prams, toys and the act of chucking has been the common theme when its been discussed. Posting will be the downfall of us all.

 

The latest situation must be very worrying for the CFPS. There will be a loss of revenue from main line work, a possible reduction in membership and inevitable arguments among it's supporters.

Not a good situation to be in. Let's hope that it's not the beginning of a long drawn out WSR style feud. <BJ>

 

I was once told a story by a chap (who will remain anonymous) who started out involved in a diesel loco group and later moved from the locos to the smaller DMU group. His reason was that, after witnessing two grown men physically fighting on a station platform following a dispute over xxx loco vs xxx train, he decided the movement wasn't for him any more.

Why is this relevent? It's another real example to prove that just because "enthusiasts" or commentators are not directly involved in a group, that doesn't mean that their appalling behaviour won't have real effects to the detriment of the whole.

As for the Class 40 business, those who choose to air their opinions in that particular way, and still believe they're supporters of diesel preservation, need to take a long hard look at themselves.

This isn't the first time, and sadly won't be the last, that social media keyboard warriors have mucked* (*stronger epithets are available) things up for other people. Ironically, they tend to be those who don't actually put their hands in their pockets either. I hope that karma comes a'calling ere long...

I also hope that the CFPS can recover from this 'orrible situation sooner rather than later.
