What exactly are you getting at? Just be interesting to see what you're thinking is? As far as I know the Bulleid Society have a good relationship with the Bluebell, so I can't see her visiting other lines in the near future...

She isn't owned by the railway outright, however the Bulleid society and the railway (and indeed, every other society on the line) have a good working relationship with each other and enjoy mutual benefits. Plus most members are members of both organisations.

No I do not currently volunteer
31638 is not owned by the MLS, its owned by the Bluebell - See: http://www.maunsell.org/virtual%20shed/ ... rofile.htm

    Quoted form this source.
1638 was the 114th engine to leave Barry, arriving at the Bluebell Railway on the 30th of July 1980. She was bought by Bluebell member George Nickson, and generously donated to the Bluebell following the great success of sister engine 1618. From 1980 until 1993 1638 was kept in Turners sidings at Sheffield Park.

"When the Maunsell Society completed 847, the options were to restore 830 or take advantage of an offer from the Bluebell Railway. This offer was to take 1638 on a free 50 lease, on the proviso that she was restored for future use on the Bluebell. This was accepted and she was completed and entered into revnue earning service at the Bluebell railway in February 2006."

Also I understood it to be that when 34059 was purchased several Bulleid tender wheel sets and a chassis were purchased from Bitton Ferry steel works, the frame was in a bad way and was basicly rebuilt with all the steel plate work renewed. So its not really a 100% 'new' tender.

Southern Locomotives Ltd purchased one of the spare Bulleid tender wheel sets that had been cut through the axle, I beleive that this is now under 34070?

There is to be an official renameing and dedication by the Grandson of Sir Archibold Sinclair at Sheffield park on (I think) Easter Saturday.
Whether the loco will do a public run before that is anyones guess.

I've been looking at the 2 websites of Southern Locomotives and the work they have done and The Bulleid Society website and I am starting to think that the 2 with regards to the frames going to Manston, that there could possibly be some kind of relationship here? Anynody else see the same thing? Or coinsidence?

This might have been arranged via the Bulied Loco Owners Association. There is a lot of co-operation between owning groups.

So that there is no further mis-information or confusion, 34059 is owned by the Bluebell
Railway, or at least that was the name on cheque when I handed it over! The only
involvement from the Bulleid Society has been help with the restoration from a small
group of members and provision of parts for the rebuild.
Regarding the tender, the original frame was so badly distorted when purchased from
Briton Ferry that it was scrapped. Springs, spring pockets, wheelsets and a small amount
    of brake gear were retained.
34059 has now run test trains for several days and is considered to be fit mechanically for
release for painting. There is still some minor work to be completed when it is painted.
An announcement will be made very soon regarding a launch date, but it is NOT on
    Easter Saturday or before then.

If you look on your screen, at the top you have a website address. All you do is highlight that, then press CTRL and C at the same time. Once you've done that, you click in the test box and press CTRL and V at the same time. It's really quite simple... ;-)

I have now added pictures of 34059 Sir Archibald Sinclair’s test runs between Sheffield Park and Horsted Keynes, on Tuesday and Wednesday, to the Bulleid Society and Bluebell Railway Battle of Britain Locomotive Group web site. http://www.locos-in-profile.co.uk/Bulle ... r_sas.html

For some of us it's 'CMD and V'.

The last time I was at SP just earlier this month I bought a DVD in the B&R series (No 31 Southern Pride). It has a short clip of Sir Archibald Sinclair backing out of Waterloo. The DVD itself I can recommend generally, very good.

    Regards

OK, I'm being dense - I can see the photos of the steam test and moving around SP yard, but not any of the test runs to HK?
