Just come back from the charter, mixed reactions
poor weather at the start (although it added new feel) and then great afternoon sun
    76079 wasn't renumbered and didn't have a goods train ](*,)
One of the crew looked like Laurence of Arabia!

However I got some great shots and had a great time
And steamingYorkshire, the guard liked your Website!
Plus I heard some great news regarding gala success

Yes I did like Steamingyorkshires website and might have to make a purchase of the DVD too.
It was a mixed day but the late afternoon sun was great.
Nice to see so many people out and about on this gala and I hope people will make the return journey in the future.
Thnaks to everybody for your support of this event and the exceelent array of pictures and clips available.
I spent most of the gala either operating or on a trade stand!!!
And I think Mr Birmigham was trying to impersonate bin LAden!!!!

I finally made it on Sunday, only took 3 hours to get there (leaving at silly o'clock) which I was quite impressed with. Lovely light in the morning, although I stuck to the section around the coast as the wind was playing havoc with the exhuast. Thanks to those who shared their location info with me. A lovely line, great looking trains the stocked looked marvellous!

Nice shots Matt, when I was there the wind on the coast was blowing a gale and it was calmer inland.

You need to change a link on your website, when you click on this thumbnail, you get the large photo of Mayflower that precedes it.

Some stunning shots but i can't help but wonder if some people were standing on the recently ploughed fields between Sheringham & Weybourne... i didn't see anyone standing on this field on the first weekend which was when the ploughing was done. I do hope the farmers didn't mind...

Closest i got to the fields was by walking on the grass edge of the neighbouring field from the road and standing on the sizeable grass area between the two fields. Which is where i got this shot from:

I do apologise in advance if the shots were taken from the side of the fields without walking on them, some of them just look awfully close to looking like they are taken from the fields themselves!

During Tuesday's charter nobody walked on/through ploughed fields.

Cheers for the reply, I have heard the farmers are quite good with people from the railway anyway, specially the one that allowed people to park by the field near Weybourne station. Apologies again.

I didn't see anyone in the fields on Sunday, although there were half a dozen people in the back garden of the bungalow near the golf course at one point!

That's where Jenny sells her crabs and lobsters from and she's always happy for you to take photos from the car park round the back if you ask nicely and especially if you buy a dressed crab or two. Went to ask permission on Sunday but there was a 'For Sale' sign up and nobody was in.

I assumed they had asked permission, just seemed a bit odd seeing a gallery in someone's back garden!

Thanks for the comments guys, glad you've enjoyed our site.

Great photos from the 2nd weekend and on the charters, i did check the webcams at one point when the 4F charter was running and noticed a black engine with a different number and wondered what it was at first, haha... Some fabulous photos out there, well done :)

If you think that's odd you should see where some of the photters end up on the Folkestone Harbour Branch.

Great Gala, second week, Glad I opted to do both weekends in the end, Just upload my photo's, I also have two part of saturdays the 28th on youtube up, another 1 part soon and then sunday the 1st, and the 7th and 8th. I forgot my hot shoe on the 28th so I had to make do with Hand held, despite that apart from a few spots I thing it turned out ok.

Well if some research had been done, people may then realise that there is a few differances between 76034 & 76079. If you are curious search out some images of 76034, and you will get some answers why it was not changed. I understand the reason for no goods train, was simply lack of suitable vehicles?
Well it was hot on the footplate afterall! ;-)

We all knew that 76034 had a tablet catcher for the M&GN lines and knew it was unlikely we would get a tablet catcher fitted. Plus something do with left/right hand drive I heard
I don't know why they didn't re-number as BBLS had asked for it

The NNR has a lack of freight vehicles but some are in the shed at the moment and now the NNR has more space for freight trains then the situation hopefully will improve.
