    ... and, as said before, two of those NS 4300 were sold to Sweden as a test if they could be useful as short term stop gap replacements for archaic just nationalized x private railway locos and then to be placed in strategic reserve when diesels would become available in sufficient quantities.

    But as they were rather heavily rebuilt with Swedish cabs and boiler fittings as well as shortened tenders (to fit turn tables) it took too long, was too expensive and the diesels came quicker than planned. No more were bought, the two odd ones were in service for a number of years and then put in the strategic reserve. And finally one of them was repatriated to KWVRly and eventually beautifully restored.
