I sent my check for the Gala tickets a little while ago, so I can't quite remember, when do I get the tickets?

Any more news on engines (apart from 9017)?

    1306 arrives before Easter.

246, 5526, 3440 arrive between Tuesday 14 - Friday 17 along with the second auto-coach and Beavertail (that will be busy!).

If you are wanting to know the final guest engine, we will make an official announcemnet around the 27th March once we have confirmation and all the necessary agreements are in place.

TR used a T9, a L&Y tank, a Scottish engine I can't remember at the moment plus a couple of other 'foreign' motive power. We wanted to do something similar and have chosen two of the 4-4-0 to doublehead in 9017 and 246 (with 9017 as the lead engine). I know the D49 boys liked the sound of it when I was with them a few weeks ago.

What do others think of this pairing ?[/quote:2zwj6gyi]
I think it's an inspired pairing, and exactly what Pat Whitehouse and friends would have wanted, given the chance.

Is there any update on wether 6100 will be visiting? I can't see any confirmation in this thread, but then again, no denials either?

The final guest list will be announced at the end of this month. We have 3 locos on our list, hopefully 2 of them will come off. All I can say is wait and see.

Little over a month now till the event. Shaping up to be an excellent event.

I hear there is a Nat-Pres special on the 18th April. Would like to be on that but what time is it likely to get back into Llangollen as I'll be using public transport to get to & from the event.

Considering the planning that has gone into this gala, why hasn't the line-up been confirmed with less than 5 weeks until the first day? I thought it would have been known a long time before the first day.

It seems to be leaving it a little late.

The line up of 11 was announced 6 months ago - in the leaflet - plus one guest locomotive to be added

Since then there has been a change out of our control. ie. Home fleet 2-8-0 3802 unable to make it.

All the visiting locomotives listed in the leafet are still in the line-up.

We would love to give the forum further details but we cannot announce what additional/replacement locomotives we hope to have as they still have to be confirmed.

The line up as it stands is mouth watering - the extras will speak for themselves !

It will be worth the wait.

Planning an event of this size is not something for the faint hearted, believe me. In the past I have organised events at the NVR and changes were being made the night before the event, I have even turned up on the morning to find locos failed and diesels substituted. It is not easy - the team behind SSSII will be working right up to the event.

I appreciate that you can't control what will happen to steam locomotives, they are notorious beasts for planning around. However I thought with 2 years in the making that with 5 weeks to go there would be a confirmed line-up by now.
