Thats the nice bit, the Shed next door where all the nuts and bolts stuff happens is a bit less pristine looking, but also nevertheless superb...

    Posted today.

The Sir Nigel Gresley Locomotive Trust is pleased to announce that, subject to successful completion of the running-in, Sir Nigel Gresley as LNER No. 4498 will participate in the Severn Valley Railway gala 21-24 April. We can also announce that the locomotive is expected to attend the North Yorkshire Moors Railway Autumn Gala (22-25 September) as BR 60007 after which the locomotive is likely to stay at the NYMR for a few weeks to take part in other events.

Is there any possibility that Sir Nigel will retain its temporary LNER dark livery for the duration - especially for those society members who were unable to attend the Crewe Open Day ?

From a piece in Chime magazine, testing and running in will be done in the black livery, once the mainline test run has been completed, and they are happy no deconstruction is required. 60007 will then enter the paint shop at Crewe for outshopping in the voted for by members BR Blue livery. Hope that helps.

Edit, Just read the piece in members area, and first 2 railtours will be in black, as they need to be done by end of May, she will then be re-painted.

"Some people" had no opportunity to visit Crewe but as a long time LIFE members since the 1970s, this member would like an opportunity to see it in the wartime livery. I am grateful to @guycar360 for confirming the opportunity at the SVR Gala for which my accommodation is already booked.

Good that those that want to see it in black will have the opportunity, but I for one am absolutely delighted that it's going back into BR Blue – it looks absolutely lush in itself and holds a special place for me as my Dad used one of his photos of it in blue as his desktop background.

It looks just 'right' in a way that it looked absolutely 'wrong' in garter blue back in the Carnforth days.

I also think it looks best in BR Blue.:) Garter Blue is for me "Mallard" colour, while green is "Union of South Africa"

First one is a members only re-enactment from Crewe to Carlisle, with heavily discounted tickets for A4 members, second one is by LSL from the info provided.

I can understand precisely where you're coming from. In all these years, after more visits than you could shake a stick at, I've still always managed to avoid Dr Syn and Blackmoor Vale in steam (in any livery!) and my last memory of High Rocks Halt involved a change at Tun Wells and a blue Thumper!
