The trip advertised steam joining and leaving at Carnforth. Incidentally they also advertised a 07:45 departure from Preston, 06:18 is a lot earlier. Hoping nobody has to pull out because of that earlier start!

Return "thankfully" looking amended now (the latter link now returns no result) and the return is now showing/scheduled as per advertised with Steam coming off at Carnforth and (interestingly) appears routed around the Edinburgh Sub.

Fingers crossed now - this is actually what happens on the day...

Thank you, those look a lot better. I’ve amended the original post with the updated return timings.

On this Edinburgh flyer as well with my mate on the 19 March getting there by rail from Huddersfield via Man Picc looks straight forward starting at 3:55am at Huddersfield and a train at 5am from Man Picc to Preston but returning from Preston to Man Picc at 22:50 Man Picc Huddersfield we will have to get a taxi home unfortunately. But we are mainly after doing the Carlisle to Edinburgh and Edinburgh Carlisle return on the old Caledonian route via Carrstairs to tick another bit of route mileage off by steam and look forward to doing Shap and Beattock both ways, traction wise I'm guessing it could be 46115 35018 or 34067 if we are very lucky on the tour but however expect it to be a excellent day out for everyone one on the Edinburgh flyer despite 60163 not doing it last year on the 18th September on the A1ST caledonian tour due to engineering works on the E.C.M.L. and all traffic from Newcastle been diverted via Carlisle and Hexham up Beattock and a path not been available to 60163.

With a maximum speed of 75mph will it be either 34067 or 35018 hauling the Edinburgh Flyer?
The return is via the Edinburgh Sub as it means there is no need to turn the stock at Niddrie.

If it is one of those two I'd assume 35018, as 34067 is kept for the Northern Belle duties.

For those of you who might have a passing interest in the diesel haulage sections, 37706 and 47802 are the two that pencilled in on this trip.

I’m going to write an angry letter to RTC’s office immediately, demanding my money back. It might only be on the diesel sections, and no, I’m not going on the tour and no, I’m not even in the same half of the British Isles when it runs but THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

I’ve been on 6,142* railtours and this is the most unacceptable I’ve never been on!

    James

    * potentially exaggerated number. Point still stands. ANGRY!!!!!

    Moi?

I just thought that since the steam leg is that quiet chuffer BIL, the throaty growl of a 37 might add some spice to the trip.

Well, I'm going and thoroughly looking forward to travelling on it and seeing an MN at Waverley if that's the chosen loco. With the way things are in the world we need to show respect to what we have. We had a DL on the rear of the Welsh Marches just over a week ago and apart from the two irrelevant occasions it was asleep all day and we had one of the most exhilarating trips for years.
