That looks like it might be good news - although passenger numbers are, I believe, still quite low compared with pre-COVID levels so just running more trains does not equate to a much bigger number of travellers.
However, despite recent cost rises let's hope numbers will prove to be profitable as and when Project Wareham trains begin their second year trial.

Not sure that is necessarily gospel as there are no times on the SWR site yet. Looked to me like it might just be what happened in 2019, but we shall see.
DfT may be the only ones that know the plan.

If you search train times on the SWR site after Monday 16th May the 2 trains per hour each direction at Wareham are now shown.

The downloadable copies of the now printed timetables available at stations, are not yet updated on the SWR website.

That would place Southwold firmly in the Hadean. :Pompus:

Couple of big caveats in there about operating the services next year too.

Jolly good too!! Never wanted a real railway anyway! All aboard for Norden and Woodpecker sidings! Seriously i think the HR movement itself is going to have a major reset. Fuel.Public sentiment against Wartime events and above all the old guard(including myself) getting too old to make a difference
The motion for debate today? Have Heritage Railways run their course??

Sounds like a bit too much drama to me. Some people are just getting on with it.

Sad in some ways that trading and economic conditions are still uncertain.

Was sad to see in Spain many hotels and restaurants close in the 2010 economic downturn and hope the same does not happen to the English seaside towns.

I may be mistaken, but I'm fairly sure the railway I've undertaken a turn on this morning, with a number of very happy families and a train running up and down, was indeed a real railway.

Personally, in the current circumstances I'm glad the railway's management has taken a course of action to try to preserve the railway's viability in the long term, rather than commit to an operation in the short term that was projected to make a loss, at a time when further cost increases across the business are biting.

Certainly there will be changes afoot. As for “no coal”, it is early days and alternatives are being looked at.

The alternatives have been found to be wanting so far. Already a couple of Railways have indicated much higher costs. These will obviously be passed on to the customer. Why not operate steam on weekends and holidays only? Or,even better, get Boris and Co to look at which railways have a chance of being operated for the greater public good with government help.

This could be the most constructive thing I’ve ever seen you post. If needs must….besides, this works just fine elsewhere in the world.

In the case of the Royal Deeside, I'd suggest a swift whip round for a new set of batteries for the BEMU (As if it isn't a USP in it's own right).
