An early (4:15) start for me too to catch her at Scout Green and on the climb to Beattock.

35018 is seen from Salterwath on the outward leg and belting through Oxenholme Station on the return whistle howling.

There's nothing quite like a night time shot of a steam loco tearing through a station, whistle blowing to make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.

I said to our party on board as the whistle sounded and we flashed through that "I hope somebody has got a recording of that" and very pleased to see somebody has! Thank you Nige. I know my son will be very interested to see this clip as we certainly were not hanging around...

Wasn’t expecting it to be that good considering the Station was deserted and the after smell was wonderful.

Thanks for sharing. Who would have thought in the early days of preservation that on the same day, we'd have one MN working a Pullman train around Surrey, a second tackling Shap and Beattock while a third was shuttling to and fro at a gentler pace between Cheltenham Racecourse and Broadway? We really have a lot for which to be thankful.

Bit of a long shot here. I was on the trip and tried to get a photo from the adjacent platform at Waverley before departure but there was a Azuma resident there until 13 minutes before our departure. 10 days ago I have had a pacemaker fitted and quite correctly my wife wouldn't let me risk staying until the KX train had departed as it's quite a trek back to the footbridge. I did manage to get a shot on the departure platform before boarding but it's wrong side for the light and too close. So here's the long shot, has anyone an image taken from the sunny side of 35018 sitting under the train shed at Waverley that I could have to put into my personal record of a great and historical day.
PS. When she was blowing off before departure it brought back so many memories of Waterloo in the 1960s.

There is a very atmospheric photo on Facebook from Edinburgh Waverley taken by a gentleman called Andy Cairns, posted to the group 'Mainline Steam Specials Around The UK'. It may be worth finding this post and messaging him with your request.
