Perhaps - I really don't know... But there has been a lot of silence about certain actions of the board recently. No crowing about how they were right all along, or excuses as to why they were right when those with the power to make the decisions say they were wrong...
All I know is that, judging by what happened in the ex6 removal process, the legal system does take it's time and all involved refrain from commenting while the process is ongoing' so maybe, just maybe, it's not quite time for the horizontally challenged lady to sing?

"The road to hell is paved with good intentions." Anyone reading your post had no idea what your intentions were, all they could see was an apparently snarky comment about a minor fault. If you don't wish to be misunderstood, you should write more clearly. I was obviously not the only one who read a good deal of sarcasm in your opening sentence.

If you can provide answers to the questions in post #42233 that seem fair and convincing, most of us will be happy to accept them. If you insist that you will only answer in private, we can only assume that we would not find your answers fair and convincing. The same goes for Robin White's questions from a few pages back.

Most of us try to be open-minded, but we have seen numerous actions from the PLC over the last several years that have appeared to be incompetent, malicious or both. When explanations have been offered at all, they have been inconsistent. Complaining that we're picking on you doesn't get anyone further forward.

That comes in the category of "naughty but nice''. Trackside magazine thinks the time of the 2MT and the small prairie has come. Wait for yells of anguish from big chufferites. :D:Resistanceisfutile:

No pleasing some people. The Caledonian blue livery is gorgeous, and who doesn't love an 0-4-4 tank. I'll be there!

As part of a gala organising team myself, with my role being to source visiting engines, congratulations to Seb for securing this fantastic engine. There is so little available at the moment and such limited spare capacity on many railways motive power wise this year that it is incredibly tough to be able to hire anything at all.

As a case in point the event I'm involved with had 4 engines all agreed, 3 months later now only one of those original 4 is attending. Replacements, after much time, stress and hassle have eventually been found but was a very close call. Make the most of gala events and make efforts to patronise them where you can if you want further ones, negativity does little to help.

As time ticks by we may start to realise just how good some past events were, with the costs and risks involved with putting on such events ever rising more caution is being applied in many a railway board room. Use it or lose it as they say!

much as it pains me to say this and this is not a dig at the WSR but we will look back on the last few years as glory years in terms of what has been running and we have been able to enjoy and see .

Over the years we have been spoiled with some great gala line ups at various railways perhaps raising expectations. You are right make the most of what we still have.

I think it’s a good guest, something different for Somerset that is a long trip to see usually.

Actually, to be fair, they have 5199 which is an authentic type & 9351 which is the closest to a 43xx in working order, the other common type so they’ve already got something representative of the lines pre-preservation life.

I agree 100%. There is a slight sense our movement has crossed some sort of watershed. New times, new challenges, no room for complacency. We've been here before and survived.

I've just watched 'Flog it' on TV, and Paul Martin had a footplate ride from Minehead to Bishops Lydeard on the 4F 0-6-0 no. 44422. With a lot of aerial filming, this was worth watching.

Does anyone know why Mr McIntosh made the cab so low?

In those days Glaswegians were notoriously short. To get six foot tall polis for the city they had to recruit Highlanders.

Glaswegians perhaps, but Oban is pretty 'highland', so you'd need to show me lists of the class allocations before I swallow that one! Maybe Mr McIntosh was just a closet Corris fan. :)

The actual reason the cabs are low is because that way you use less material, and we know how careful Glaswegians are with the pennies..
