Well if they (Weegies) were to drop a penny, it would smack them in the back of the napper. See also: Copper wire was invented by two Weegies fighting over a penny.

I believe he was from Arbroath, Angus and not a Glaswegian.

Surely less a question of origin and more one of stature? :Pompus:

I'm sure the ticket office on the front of MD has this info anyway? Or at least used to.

As would online. But a A board appeals to passers by. So it isn’t so much about whether the information is right (though that matters) as the message it sends to those who might travel on a whim, or who might be deterred on seeing the wrong message.

It’s one of the little things, better got right, but not earth shattering or evidence of utter incompetence. And, in context of the alleged pile ons in this thread, both minor in itself and a sign of how significant seeming trivia can become.

No, the cab is low because that was all that was required to accommodate the driver's ego.

Of course, a cynic might remind them at MD that, if they really wanted a blue engine, then had things been different there used to be at least one if not two just a few stations up the line...:)

The 14:40 service train from BL to Minehead has been held at BL after an elderly lady tripped on the foot crossing at the station. She fell between the tracks and cannot be moved until an ambulance arrives. The station staff are acting in a very helpful, caring and professional manner. Let's give credit where it's due. (BJ)

Update: No ambulance available. Patient removed from the tracks by the fire brigade!! Service train departed 23 minutes late.

Sadly, such things are becoming increasingly common these days. A man fell and possibly broke his hip during a concert in Bath recently and waited on the floor 12 hours for an ambulance (including 6.5 mins for 999 to answer the phone). Apparently he said "the show had to go on" and he slept during the second half at the front of the stage! At least he was in the warm and dry, unlike some poor folk who have been in the street in the wind and rain....

I do hope the poor lady is doing OK now.

Taunton most likely the nearest fire station. They are used to dealing with casualties.

For those who are not Facebook users, a PMV update.

Yesterday a small number of us worked away at a few remaining small jobs on PMV no.1464. The vehicle has been requested for use on a Steam Recreations photo charter on Tuesday 5th April, so we aim to have the van finished on the exterior by then. The primary aim of today's working party was to fully prep the exterior for a final topcoat of Craftmaster Crimson. This consisted of ensuring all coach bolts were fully fitted with nuts in place ready for painting. Whilst this was taking place, we decided to have a good tidy up on the inside, as from all our time working we'd made quite a mess with various tools and materials all over the place. Some materials were deemed beyond reasonable use and were discarded. Whilst we had the van empty, a good effort was made to get as much of the flaking paint on the ceiling off ready for painting at some point.

Round our way, the local fire brigade provide medical support to the Ambulance service due to the rural location and regularly deal with 999 medical responses as part of their job.
