The station area at Corris is very tightly confined and the plan was drawn up so that the station can accomodate loco and four coaches. Fitting in a point and headshunt didn't work in planning and a sector plate was considered before going down the route of the traverser.. The Railway has to work with local residents requirements and much of the original station area is now the village car park and access to the school. This has longer term implications for construction of the station and deploying materials and any machinery. However until the piggy bank is refilled that is a fair way off. The CR is not wealthy and has thought hard and planned carefully about the best way forward at Corris station.

The project's timing is impeccable and the traverser looks ..... well, it looks like something well worth a pound a shove, "for the cause"! I always enjoy images of goods stock, but especially in the case of the Corris, there's something just so right about a train of loaded waggons.

The latest addition to the news section of the Corris website are pictures of more volunteer engineering work towards getting number 10 steaming. Fire box door assembly.

With work due to be getting underway again at Keef's any money that can be donated will be welcome. It can be done online via the Falcon Locomotive section of the site.

This evening the Corris website has had a lot of pictures of activity at Maespoeth Junction loaded up. Quite a bit has been happening in addition to the station activity at Corris.

Thanks for the updates but if you posted a link it might encourage more people to look. This isn't a criticism just a suggestion.

Not the first time carriage 23 has been out to play, but perhaps is the first time it's seen sunshine!

The trestle waggon is coming along very nicely. Looks as if it'll soon be the right way up! :)

New piccies. Corris platform complete. Track tweaks tweaked. No.6 out to play. No.7 running round 31/2 carriage train. All looking set for a good season.

It seems a bit of a hard push on that traverser, maybe three would be better, thinking of the back on a rainy day !

I daresay we'll get used to images of No.7 pulling downhill quickly enough. It's comedy festival time and after the pandemic, it's great to see the Corris playing it's full part once again.

A couple of updates. Can you believe the passenger service recommenced 20 years ago already? As well as crews obviously getting used to the traverser, welcome evidence of the line's place within the local community. Also, after two years' enforced absence, due to the damned lurgi, the Model Exhibition returns to Y Plas, in Machynlleth on 27/28th August:

Only one photo in this latest ..... but boy, it's an update which underlines just how tantalisingly close No.10 is getting to completion:

They say a week is a long time in politics and we've seen that this week. Given adequate funding, that's equally true in loco construction ... and here's the proof:

    https://www.corris.co.uk/news/

Watching No.10 coming together, I can see why both the old Corris Management and former Kerr Stuart Premium Apprentice Tom Rolt held the Hughes design in such high regard. Short fixed wheelbase aside, this is was a good design back in 1878 and the 21st century update looks a most worthy successor to long lost Corris locos Nos.1&2.

Following hiatus due to one thing or another, Alan Keefe's annual open day returns. 24th Sept. Sorry dog owners, but No Dogs. Interesting itinerary, one particular item on which is the reason it's posted here. You've got three guesses. If you've been paying attention, you should only need one! :

    https://www.corris.co.uk/news/

If you don't want to spoil the surprise, look away now. :)

“It’s been four years since the last steam-up and so this year’s event is going to be very special, especially as we also celebrate our company’s 50th Anniversary! For everyone that is new to the village or new to this event, it’s when Alan Keef Ltd open their doors, steam their own and visiting locomotives, welcome hundreds of visitors to see what they’ve been working on and invite you to enjoy a ride or two behind one of the engines. Alongside ‘Woto’, one of our other engines, ‘Taffy’, is currently being worked on and will be returning to steam for the first time in over 12 years. We’ll be welcoming the steam engine ‘Peter Pan’ too, alongside a brand-new steam engine that we’ve been building for the Corris Railway and which will be ready for its first public steaming. Steam trains to ride behind, a look around the workshop, trade stands to browse; garden to relax in, hot and cold food and, hopefully, a fine and sunny day – come along and enjoy the Steam-up and help us to raise funds for Lea Church. You can’t miss us at the top end of the village – parking in the field alongside, or why not enjoy a walk up the new footpath through the fields to reach us?

    Please – no dogs though!

Quite a bit going on in the workshops. The photo in this one I particularly like is of the Upper Corris 'branch' .... where the caption puts it perfectly.

    https://www.corris.co.uk/news/

Note the photo of 'The Slaters' ..... something about the Corris I like so much is just how much a part of the wider Dulas Valley community the line is and from all accounts, in this respect the revived line seamlessly continues in the footsteps of the original line .... to the benefit of all.

    Afternoon All,

For the past two weeks I've been in Wales and, whilst there, I went on the Corris Railway in mid-Wales. Here's the first instalment of my video footage:

    Hope it's of interest,
