I thought he’d sold it in about 1996 when he lost interest and had a massive fire sale.

One of the top three most used diesels (with 45108 and 33109).

I've seen rumours it's to be make space for a certain A4 that's currently at Bury.

The ELR had the Museum restored as a Transport museum with 3 million pounds of grants not as a loco shed ,from another forum somebody who as kept is traction engine there for 26 years as been given 4 weeks notice to remove it what a appalling way to treat people.

Is an A4 static exhibit not an item for a transport museum ,railways I believe are a form of transport ?
Not commenting on whether it’s more deserving than exhibits threatened with eviction of that’s the case .
Personally I think the sole surviving 504 Bury unit ,should be in there as it’s the most appropriate form of transport associated with Bury ,rather than deteriorating at Buckley Wells towards the point of no return .

In one way it's nice to know that 60009 is going to be accessible and visible for the foreseeable future, but I rather like Bury Transport Museum in its current form as jumble of all sorts of historical vehicles and interest. It feels like a pleasing detour from the railway into other forms of transport, a bit of a tangent if that makes sense. I hope the other vehicle owners find safe new homes for them.

EDIT: I also can't blame the museum for jumping at the chance to have an attraction like 60009 which will undoubtedly be a massive draw to the general public.

It seems strange that JC has not found somewhere in Scotland so he could visit it easily.

That's a tight curve to negotiate to get it in there, unless it goes in by road. My best guess is about 3 chains radius.

Suggested elsewhere by road .I do wonder if it’s current overhyped shed mate might be going up the hill for its overhaul at a similar time .

I understand the design of the 504s was the basis for the 1st generation DMUs and therefore of great interest. Also that the Bury Electrics were the most relable trains on the network. The unique high voltage third rail power being a factor in that. I'm sorry that that its future is not secured
IMHO to evict the existing collection for a big static loco with little connection to the area would be unfortunate.

Well there’s ways and means of doing things aren’t there?
Why is it I have a feeling those who’ve made this decision haven’t looked at a certain railway in the south west and how they’ve buggered things up regarding removing a supporting group down there.

I’ve said this before you but you can’t put a monetary value on things like trust, integrity and goodwill.
Those in charge really don’t look good with this decision.

After 26 years, to be given 4 weeks notice is pretty shocking and doesn't paint the railway in a very good light..
