Just thinking based on what has been said, a locomotive such as Bahamas would be a good choice for more legs of this tour. Is a Jubilee gauged for the Highland Mainline?

I wish that Galatea’s ticket didn’t run out in Early March.

Beyond even considering that, would the loco even have a support crew available? I assume WCRC will have had support crews for their locos planned from a long time back.

Also on the subject of delays and financial liability has anything changed north of the border post April 1 or is it just Scotrail that has been nationalised. I have not really kept up with the minutiae of what happened in a different country.

Bahamas' support crew do a brilliant job, 14 main line runs announced so far this year, almost all of them start from or run in to one or other of the main London stations, very impressive for a team that's based in the north, Lancashire and Yorkshire mainly I believe, the loco's always immaculately turned out too..... credit to their efforts !!!

You have made a good point there. Bahamas has a limited number of support crew available and if you look at their summer schedule they will be spending a lot of time away from home. It’s a privilege to be part of a support crew but it does have to be worked in with a normal home life and career.
In addition to that I would think WC and the tour operator have costed the trip on the basis of not having to pay steaming fees to a third party for this part of the trip.

Besides the other considerations already pointed out, I can't see a Jubilee taking a train the size of the GB tour over the Highland Line.

Paul, would you mind doing the same for the Jubilee double header from Grange over Sands to Cardiff please?

Before some of you get over-excited about diesel conspiracy rumours, you may give thought to the rather more important issue of fire-risk. From where I’m currently sitting, it’s another beautiful day in Highland Perthshire 6 miles from Dunkeld but no rain since a shower on Sunday night. The trees are only just beginning to come out.

As with Fort William ( currently fire-risk too), a diesel on the rear is better than no steam at all.

Can echo this James. I've driven up to Skye from Fife yesterday, and it's rare for this time in April seeing the trees so bare and the dead grass still so prudent. Very much a winter feel still until the sun shines and the temperatures start shooting up.

If it’s not too much trouble, Thursday 28th and Saturday 30th would be much appreciated.
Hoping to see the Duchess travelling through the Peoples Republic of Cornwall.
