Not sure whether this will work on here (and its not my video taken off the 46233 Fan page filmed by Stephen Beer). Perhaps practising for traction today...

Just shows how much resource goes into running this train.

A few of my better shots from the GB14 in Scotland and the Marches.
An opportune weekend to visit Perthshire for a number of reasons and be home in time for the run through Shropshire.

Just to echo what others have already said, thanks are due to everyone involved in organising and running the tour; and especially to those who book on this and all the other trains to justify running them.

That's a good average. I guess that the Dainton figure may have been because of not having a decent run at it?

Either way, the Duchess seems to have put on a show.

I understand there is a speed restriction near Newton Abbot.

So how does it compare to 35028?

No problem Paul, but it was a more modest, but rather noisy 48 on Whiteball. A wonderful journey today on the Cornish mainline, working our way into a glorious sunset.

Touche! It was badly worded, but here's what I meant. I seem to recall GBXIV having load 10, so it brought 35028's June 2018 run to mind. While circumstances vary, I was wondering how Sutherland did over the banks with this load. I think the reference to 48 on Whiteball above answers my question!

Looking at my records, 35028 did Exeter-Plymouth in 62 minutes 20 seconds start-stop, so at around 66 minutes on RTT, the Duchess looks to have done rather well considering the restriction at Newton Abbot.

So I guess we should have in the back of our mind 60 min 45 sec for the run back as a marker from the same trip in 2018. But with a booked time of 78 min there is no need to rush and I expect EXD will not want to see the charter turning up early. We shall see. I have to say that a little more time at the break would be good.
