I don't know who Bongo is. That's a fact. But I do know who the Kim & Pete referred to are and have known them for 30 years and neither of them are Bongo. I know a reasonable bit about Bongo because we've corresponded at length on various things and I can readily understand his reasons and desire to remain anonymous on here.

As for real names, 'Stantheman' doesn't give much away.

Well Mr Bongo, you continue to make some fairly frightening comments -- based on your perception / understanding of what has gone on with 6100, and Scotsman before that.
Should we all avoid going anywhere near the loco if its in steam at the coming WSR gala, or anywhere else it may be in steam.
Have you actually been involved with this loco or any other motive power overhauled at Southall.
If you know so much , have you alerted the appropriate authorities?
I have absolutely no idea who you are / what your qualifications are; but if, for example, Ian Riley posts something about locos/engineering, I can at least appreciate his involvement in the heritage sector / loco ownership/ overhaul abilities.

i would of thought the return to steam of a magnificent LMS steam locomotive albiet over budget and behind schedule would be a momentus and happy occasion.

DRM, of course everyone should be happy that royal scot is back in steam ,but i cant help that wonder if the bressingham trustees had placed the loco with somewhere like the elr, severn valley or crewe to start with would it have cost them so much, after all they had to sell some of their engines and take out a loan dispite having lotery assistance i can only think that it went to southall because , someone said it had to go there then the costs start to go up and up wasnt the orginal plan to restore the engine at bressingham

Will it be fitted with a 6100 smokebox plate or THE ROYAL SCOT one?

Well apart form the fact that pre nationalisation liveries never had numbers attached to the smokebox but were painted on the buffer beam. Looking at the pictures there are the mountings for the name plates on the sides rather than on the front end.

Thought even before nationalisation LMS had numbers on smokeboxes? Just without the 40000/50000 prefix.

    I meant like this:

Re: 6100 Royal Scot test runs

LMS locos generally had smokebox numberplates. Never painted on the bufferbeam! However, as it's a hybrid livery, you never know how it will finish up!

All, just a reminder from forum rules..

Here I translate this as Please refain from provoking the ID of members who are reserving their identity.

whilst on the other side of the fence... being fair to those who want to know..

In my opinon I would encourage everyone to continue this debate about 6100, as it is highly interesting, just leave out the personals, encourage more facts.

Remember the thread is about 6100 and very soon i'm sure this topic will be alive with good news on this locomotive.

Re: 6100 Royal Scot test runs

On a slightly different note, having had the experience of standing on a scot, Can i just relate how bloomin huge it feels!!!

I know its far smaller than a duchess or a lizzie but my god the footplate dont half feel a long way up (and when your on it, even further down) for some reason when your stood on it, it gives the impression that it is far larger than it actually is. Couple that with the fact you can only see down the fire box to the crest in the fire bars where it drops away to the front (the rest looking like a never ending black abyss), it feels like your on the biggest engine in the world, very intimidating.

That's good news. It is due to leave Crewe today (by road) as I understand, with the tender to follow later.

talking of evidence of a sort, 76079, some of us are still waiting for you to come up with any sort of list of defects that 6100 had when it arrived at Crewe. Don't be coy now.

Do you honestly think that 76079 is going to abuse his position at Crewe and sling mud just for your gratification. ](*,)
