Passing Brock 43 early with a slight sepia tone, thank goodness for the internet or I would have missed it.

The white exhaust came to my rescue, picking out the train on a particularly gloomy day, but that black livery is magnificent.

 

Was anyone at Carlisle to see today's two charters side by side, departing within three minutes of each other?

 

As I was unable to get further north today due to other commitments, here are a pair of shots of 4498 in Lancashire at Hoghton outbound and Balshaw Lane Junction on the return.

 

SNG sounds beautifully smooth and looks impressively steam-tight. Well done to all those who worked on her.

 

Sir Nigel was seen from Arcow Quarry, Plumpton and Kitchenhill.

I went on the CME today from Crewe to Carlisle and return, run was fine to Carnforth then chaos ensued, rear coach would not respond to Vacuum brakes of 46115
So Class 86 had to attach to rear of train and we left 45 minutes late 86 and shoved us all the way to Carlisle, topping 78mph over Shap for a 25 minute late arrival
Even 4498 SNG arrived late
Return was supposed to be 14:22, but 95 minutes later we left due to AWS batteries failure, new ones were found somewhere!!
Anyway just a few phone pics and phone videos for tonight rest of camera photo tomorrow

Not long back from a marathon day out to se the A4 and couldn't resist processing the best of the day, 4498 approaching Harrisons sidings at Shap.
Somewhat sobering to think I first photographed this engine on 1st April 1967 passing Walton New jct at Warrington (no idea where that negative is now),
daren't try that today.
