Statfold Barn Railway Enthusiast Weekends 2022: 19 & 20 March and 11 & 12 June

Well, it’s a New Year here at Statfold and we have some exciting news and events coming this year…

The dates for our first two Enthusiast Weekends are the 19th and 20th March and the 11th and 12th June. Our first Enthusiast Weekend: The Last Days of Penrhyn Steam on the 19th & 20th March, this see’s three of the last Penrhyn steam locomotives reunited, with visiting Avonside ‘Ogwen’ reunited withStatfold’s own Avonside ‘Marchlyn’ and recently restored Andrew Barclay ‘Cegin’. With ‘Sybil Mary’ and ‘GP39’ completing the Penrhyn line-up.

Our second Enthusiast Weekend: Sweet Indian Steam on the 11th and 12th June, will celebrate Hudswell Clarke ‘Alpha’s’ 100th Birthday, so, to celebrate this momentous occasion we thought we would have a weekend dedicated to Indian steam! We have displays from the Darjeeling Railway Society, various other models and much more planned…

Great day as usual, sun kept us guessing, quieter than when we were there last. Part 1 - the portraits.

 

Part 2 - some shots on trains.

 

Spent a very enjoyable day there Saturday, best weather I've ever had on a Statfold visit. Nice to see some of the smaller locos given runs solo and that the double heading was mixed and changed throughout the day, something I hadn't previously experienced.

 

Darjeeling Himalayan Railway no. 19B is announced as the visitor for the June event.

Another great event at the barn...

 

As City-Steam says, great day at Statfold again, including the curry/samosa/nan-bread at the café. Mixture of sun and cloud, windy and a short shower around 2.00pm. We didn't wait for the line up, promised at around 4.15pm, but they were still dispatching trains at 4.30pm, just as we drove off it poured down in Tamworth. Selection as my contribution:
