I have no knowledge of local politics but I do remember a magazine recently stating that Rossendale council are the ones pushing for this apparently?

Rossendale Council are the ONLY ones pushing for this (and the ELR runs into Rossendale for all of 2 miles). Bury Council, Rochdale Council, TfGM, ELR and the rest of the world (except for a few keyboard warriors) understand that it would (not could) destroy the ELR and get rid of circa 200,000 (unsubsidised) visitors per year, would need an ongoing subsidy of £ several m per year (who will pay that ongoing) etc.- let alone all the costs to set it up which at least 2 previous studies in the last 10 years have said would cost upwards of £50-£80m, and would not produce anywhere near the numbers that Rossendale are claiming (and that was pre-Covid)

The weekend celebrating the LNWR-LYR merger is appealing but I don't think I can make that one. Will both LNWR and LYR locos be working on any other dates this year?

I think the KWVR are also hoping to host such an event later in the year?

Anyone heard of news on 7229, as her and the other GWR 72xx came up in discussion else where and it reminded me off her.

Steam free today on the Lanc's, dull grey Class33 and the brighter blue Class 25, the latter seen leaving Bury on the 14.45 to Heywood. P1140890.JPG

I didn't see it mentioned here but the Bury Standard 4 Group are having to replace all the small tubes on 80097 on the advice of their boiler inspector after a couple of them failed. A far from ideal situation for the group but they are actively fundraising to carry it out: https://www.burystandard4group.org.uk/news/80097-update

How is the East Lancs looking steam motive power wise for the next few years?

It'd just occurred to me that 34092 can't have many years left on its ticket, 13065 is still undergoing overhaul isn't it?

    Regards
    Chris

34092 is on an extended ticket which ends at the end of December. 5643 is also due to be withdrawn at some point at the end of its ticket later this year. 13065 is still under overhaul and will apparently for a while

Which just leaves them with 52322, 51456, 2890 (when it returns from the SpVR) and 32... Anything due back in service early next year?
