I notice in the current edition of RM that the Rhiw Valley Railway has an open day on 3/4 September
Can anyone provide more details, such as directions (postcode) and opening times?

    Thanks

    Stuart

Try SY 21 8 BJ, from Welshpool take main road towards Newtown, turn off for Berriew village then take 2nd right in the village for Manafon, first right would take you over the hill to Castle Caereinion on the Llanfair light, the line is clearly visible on the left in the valley meadows before Manafon, was built with loving care by deceased local jewel shop owner.

I went a couple of years ago. Trains started approx midday I think. I also seem to remember that Saturday is invitation only and Sunday is the public day. Both engines are usually is steam - well worth a visit!

You can combine it with the Welshpool Gala, even more reason to visit.

Just to follow up the original post

I had a great time on Sunday afternoon. Weather was great with lots of sunshine. Everyone very friendly
The line is very photogenic, with both steam locos working hard

Would definitely recommend if you've not paid a visit

Yes I am an active volunteer
A report on a Facebook group says it is closing and the last open day is to be on October 2nd. I hope it isn't true, but hopefully the locos and rolling stock will survive.

    The RVLR website says this:
All good things come to an end, and unfortunately, for various reasons, this will be the last opening season for the RVLR. We’d like to thank all our visitors and volunteers for their support over the years. The very last open day will be Sunday 2nd October and we hope to see as many of you as possible on that date to celebrate this great little railway.
