I know that the 4-6-0 version of the Standard 4 worked between Ruabon and Barmouth but I was wondering if or not the 2-6-0 version did the same and if so from what years? Can anyone help?

There is on one of the B&R dvds a sequence showing a Class 4 mogul on the coast section of the Cambrian. I can't remember whether it's an Ivatt or BR design. I'll see if I can find it.

A few Std 4MT 2-6-0s were allocated to 6A Chester and 6C Croes Newydd during 1965/66 and 67. It is highly likely that some of them worked over the line during this period.

I lived in Barmouth in 1965 and 1966 - I only remember the Standard 2-6-0's in 1966 - the Ruabon line closed in January 1965

A quick perusal of the Foxline book on the Ruabon to Barmouth line (scenes from the past no.9) reveals 75009 (c1963), 75021 (c1963) 75026 (10/63) - double chimney version , 75029 (1963), 75023 (1963) and 75006 . I can't see any images or reference to 2-6-0 versions but thats not to say it didn't happen. Checking vol 53 - return to Pwllheli any images of 76xxx are all 1966 which leads me to suspect maybe not

I have looked at the DVD and the loco was 43151 and it was pushing an inspection saloon at Barmouth. The commentary says that the footage was taken in July 1966, but I think the Ruabon line closed in 1964 (?).

I remember seeing it - the only Flying Pig I ever saw except for 43106.

Inspection Saloon stayed overnight at Barmouth - Station Master told me to keep away from the station as bosses were around. I was normally there most of every day!

I'm glad it brought back a good memory! The footage is on B&R 138 Cambrian Coast Route Part 4
