Great day yesterday despite the late running due to the unfortunate operating problems at Gotherington. My only criticism was the lack of any information being broadcast as to what as going on. I only found out by asking a guard who was able to explain to me exactly what the issues were. There were several people on my particular train who were getting very anxious and annoyed about the delays. As a result these could be people who might decide to not visit the railway again. If only that information had been given out to everyone by a member of staff either walking through the train or announcements being made at stations. Still a superb day and the late running won't prevent me from going back.

Despite wondering at times if it was actually January rather than June, i had a most enjoyable day at the GWSR Cotswold Festival of Steam yesterday.

I may have been critical of the theme, but I really hope this event has made quite a few people happy (including those who crunch the numbers!)

What a weekend.....! Grateful thanks to all our visiting locomotive owners and their representatives for supporting our event along with all the support from our own volunteers.

Times have changed, it has been a challenging event to put on, the number of volunteers required to hold such an event is huge but we just about managed it!

What the future holds for the 'Cotswold Festival of Steam' is subject to discussion, but for now we hope all who attended enjoyed their time with us and wish to thank you for your custom. We look forward to seeing all the pictures taken throughout the event, feel free to share them with us here!

Echoing Mike s, many thanks to everyone who came along. The dept managed to put out 9 engines for three days, running over 1400 miles, 34 sets of rostered crew, a lot of the black stuff consumed and even more of the water - it got tight quite early on. The crews and guys and girls on shed all rose to the occasion and worked tirelessly. Already seeing some great footage and pictures and nice comments, it’s all appreciated. Here’s my favourite pictures that I took on Thursdays photo charter,

We had a great time on Saturday. We met up with friends we hadn't seen since pre covid. Our ages in our group of 9 ranged from pre school to retired! Thank you for all the hard work to deliver an amazing event which was terrific value. [IMG][IMG]

My video and a few photos from the event. An enjoyable weekend overall, despite of the late running. Was nice to see the local set calling at Hayles Abbey, somewhat negating the need to walk there from Toddington! Would be great to see this taken advantage of more in the future.

My photographic contribution to the weekend, part one, Friday. Thanks to all for making it a mega-event, three days of track bashing and stepping down for short breaks. Good to meet Mike S putting face to a name. Our breaks this day were Chicken Curve and Gotherington for the curry! Day three, Sunday, the rain dance worked and it stopped as we arrived at Toddington, but a dull cold day for June. Today's break was Winchcombe for tomato soup and a roll! Has anybody got any pictures of the road steam? I understand there were a few engines at Toddington.

On Saturday, there was a steam lorry, plus some smaller scale models which I didn't get photos of.
Didn't see any other big stuff unless I missed it.
