Not long ago Worcester was one of the later departures. I have even manged to get to Slough to pick it up (from Swanage) having left Bournemouth on a XC at 06:20. Could now only get to Reading 15 minutes after the tour has left leaving at 05:40 and a change at Basingstoke. Such is progress.
Platform 8 if it happens is an interesting departure platform. Last time I went out of there on a tour we left the guard behind.

 

The RTC website says the outward journey will be via the Cotswold Line, yet RTT shows it takes the Golden Valley Line both ways. Has the original plan changed?

 

Plenty to see and do in 5 hours on a summer Saturday in my home city - 5 hours will hardly be enough!

Had Ticket Letter. Train formation A-C Premier Class; D& E First Class; F Standard Class/Buffet Car; G&H Standard Class; so 8 passenger carrying, plus Kitchen Car and POB, sensible load 10. Should be a really good and noisy day out.

 

Brollies might be needed for Saturday. Don't you just love the British weather

She looks great even in the depot at Southall! Would love to see it run up north at some point.

81C was my local shed growing up (and until 2014 really)
Both my grandfathers were drivers at 81C, so great to see steam still there.

Just need to move those coaches and find another 20 locos to put next to Bahamas, WIBN

 

It looked like a solid performance today on either side of Sapperton. It was a good job it wasn't any later as it hammered it down 10 minutes after climbing into the tunnel. Look forward to the reports.

 

In stormy conditions unbefitting of mid-June, 45596 Bahamas charges out of Worcester with the return leg of the "Cotswold Venturer".

 

That statement could be described as an understatement. On the return minimum speed 29mph on a wet rail and no use made of the sanders.

 

Glad to be corrected, it looked a good turn of pace given the rail conditions.

 

The late running was due to bad train regulation, the climb to Sapperton Tunnel was astounding. It was a exceptional performance. I was privileged to be on the footplate, a journey that will be in the memory for a very long time
