Actually it looks as though it's slow line from Hampton Court Junction to Basingstoke but it is fast line up from Woking on the way back. I like the look of the non stop path from Exeter to Bristol.

Steam out of and into Waterloo. That makes a change.

I think that Clan Line will be on its own but this is WCRC and I guess that they can reserve the right to do something different. After all, having your rescue/shunting diesel sitting at Southall is not much help if your train is 180 miles away.

That was the situation on 10-10-2017 when 46233 had electrical trouble at Gloucester. The rescue diesel was dispatched from Southall, but the electrical trouble was eventually sorted and we passed the diesel somewhere on the way back.

Unless they are allowed to propel back into EXD there's got to be a diesel with it

There seems to be no set rules about that, it all depends on local arrangements. Its a very long day for the support crew, 05.53 off Stewart’s Lane and 00.42 back if all goes to plan.

Looking forward to this one, especially in and out of Waterloo direct to Woking. It's been a while since I've had a Bulleid over Honiton.

So as I said, I think '28 is going alone.

They did propel back into EXD on one occasion when I was there (10-8-2019).

I do not see a path for a LE diesel to and from Waterloo.

We should have the same driver we had with Bahamas last week on the down run so it should be good.

Propelling ECS is normally allowed but isn't there a distance constraint?

I believe @torgormaig did tell us on I think one of the White Rose threads where it was discussed, but cannot find it now.
Past one signal sticks in my mind, but I could be wrong, so I apologise to Peter in advance for my poor memory if I am.

I know that in daylight a steam locomotive at Bo’ness can if leaving Bo’ness tender first propel its support coach as far as Linlithgow and then reverse to head back past Manuel and onwards on its journey.

It is a permitted movement, as is propelling from St David's platforms to Riverside Yard.

    Cheers, Neil

No need to apologise Gary, your memory is just fine. You are generally permitted to propel past no more than one running signal unless the Sectional Appendix says otherwise. I doubt that propelling from Riverside yard to Exeter St Davids is any more problematic than propelling from Holgate Reception sidings to York station.

Very surprised no call at Exeter Central as on all previous trips I have been on. Much more convenient for most people heading for city centre.

EXC is now full of trains from Okehampton and Barnstaple that terminate here and then head up to the junction to reverse and return. Looking at RTT suggests that were the charter to stop at Central then it would delay other services.
