    Because the only Hastings unit buffet vehicles to survive are 1: in use as inspection saloon "Caroline", and 2: heavily modified as "Lab 4", a test coach for the APT's tilt systems, and considered far too costly to return it to original spec.

    Hastings Diesels did own it and were thinking of restoring it back to a Buffet Car, but the cost of doing so as well as other factors put a stop to that.
